Craft Co-operatives
UCOTA Women’s Group
In association with the Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA), LBDC started a program for the development of skills in craft making. LBDC coordinates the community training and UCOTA provides training in basket weaving, hand made paper products and other products. UCOTA then takes the products and exports them to local and international markets. The crafts are also sold at Bushara Island Camp.
Bunyonyi Wear and Bunyonyi Kid's Wear
Bunyonyi Kids Wear is a fair trade product for children age 1 year to 4 years. Our women’s cooperative is currently sewing shorts, caps and sundresses. These garments are made from the local African fabrics worn by the ladies in the villages around Lake Bunyonyi. They are lightweight, colourful and perfect for warm weather. The ladies also make Bunyonyi Wear clothing for adults, such as wrap skirts, shirts, and neckties.
Garment prices range from $3.00 to $12.00 US. Washing instructions are included and deliveries can be made in three days with available inventory - special orders on request. To discuss these products further please contact us by email or mail.

Tie-Dye Widows’ Group
A group of three widows have been trained by LBDC to produce beautiful tie-dyed fabrics as a means of generating income. They make their tie-dye products on Bushara Island and the fabric is sold at the Bushara Island Camp reception area. Some of the fabric is also used to make Bunyonyi Wear clothing.
If you are interested in our fair trade products, contact us and we would be pleased to discuss our inventory with you. Your support will help the ladies in our cooperatives provide their children with school fees, medical care and a higher level of nutrition.
